2. With that, let the mandoline sit on you perpendicularly. Make sure that the raised end is closer to you. Setting the mandoline parallel to you can cause a side-to-side slice that will result in uneven cuts or slipping.

3. Cut your food to create a flat surface. When cutting lemons or potato or other vegetables, cut them in half as a mandoline can only slice flat surfaces. Also, make the other end round to make an easy grip.

  1. Is there a trick to preparing the food before you put it on the mandolin? My 1st attempt was to sliver mushrooms And I took them from the refrigerator Then I washed them then I dried them Then I put them on the mandolin. I got more of a mush no slices. Very Disappointing.

    • Hello John, sorry about your experience. Mushroom are porous and can absorb lots of water. Your most probable misgiving is allowing them to stay in the water for too long. Always ensure that you rinse them briefly and dry them immediately.
